Rising Stars is talent scouting initiative powered by AOA. Through national competitions and training camps (in-person and online), we identify high potential high-school students.
Africa is full of bright minds. Rising Stars is how we find them.
By working with national education systems, local math societies, and partner organisations, we support and launch country-level math competitions and training programs that bring these students into the spotlight. Whether through formats like Math Kangaroo, or custom national competitions we co-design with partners, our goal is simple: identify talent early, nurture it continuously, and connect it to opportunities that simply aren’t accessible through traditional schooling
Rising Stars is divided into 3 main pillars
Competition
Students from multiple high schools across the country with the help of their teacher or school take part in Competitions throughout multiple rounds. The best performers are invited to a Math camp.
Camp
Successful students are invited to ~1 week long math camp practicing mathematical problem solving skills. At the end of the camp, the best students are given a scholarship to study at African Olympiad Academy
Online Trainings
Students continue to do online trainings post-camp, practicing further their mathematical problem-solving skills in the four fields of Math Olympiad; Algebra, Geometry, Combinatorics, and Number Theory
