Access to quality training remains limited for many talented students across the continent

Students from low-income or rural backgrounds often face logistical and financial barriers that prevent them from participating in extracurricular programs. Most existing initiatives are concentrated in capital cities or elite schools.

Gender disparities continue to persist in most competitions and camps

Most national math competitions and camps remain male-dominated. Girls often miss out, not due to lack of ability, but due to lack of representation, encouragement, and inclusive programming that welcomes genuine participation and growth.

Olympiad program quality and structure vary widely between countries

The experience of participating in a math camp or competition can differ dramatically depending on where students live. Many programs rely on overworked volunteers or underprepared coaches. Without proper structures, training, and community-building, it’s difficult to maintain high-quality experiences that students can count on year after year.

Africa is full of bright minds. Rising Stars is how we find them.

By working with national education systems, local math societies, and partner organisations, we support and launch country-level math competitions and training programs that bring these students into the spotlight. Whether through formats like Math Kangaroo, or custom national competitions we co-design with partners, our goal is simple: identify talent early, nurture it continuously, and connect it to opportunities that simply aren’t accessible through traditional schooling.
